Some time-lapse fun

Over the last couple of years I have been playing with time-lapse videos.  Often these are of my yoga practice, but not always.  I produce them in two ways. Sometimes I just use a downloadable app on my phone, which does it all for you. In the examples below I have used a digital SLR camera with a remote shutter release, which has a built-in timer function allowing me to set it to take a frame every so many seconds.  I usually pick between 5 and 8 seconds. Then I use some software on the computer (Video Velocity from Candylabs) to stitch the photos together into a video at whatever playback rate I choose.

The interesting thing about using the SLR is that you can hear the shutter releases and so you know when the picture has just been taken. This allows you to the move between frames and create some illusions. You simulate a new reality because you are only seeing snapshots stitched together. In between frames everything else might be happening. I like this concept and get quite creative with it.

Here are just a few examples...

A yoga sequence while moving around my garden

A yoga sequence appearing as twins by moving between left and right positions between frames (fast frame rate)

A shadow yoga sequence

Just flying around (this one done not on a timer but with someone clicking the shutter release)
